David Lee – King Street Townhouse Wedding DJ & Lighting. I was booked to play here by Rob & Elizabeth for their April wedding in the South Terrace Suite. As per all my clients, they were given their online planner and they proceeded to give me a playlist of approximately 80 songs.  With the proviso “play whatever gets people going, if you can squeeze some of these in as well, it would be great” …. And it was!

Customer Review

David was a true professional from the start. Set up early for us, despite not kicking off until 8pm, we loved the online music selection portal. We had an amazing outside terrace & a lot of our guests were sat outside, but he still managed to drag them up on their feet & pull some shapes for a good proportion of the night. We also received some great photos from him – which were a excellent touch. Fully recommended. X

Richard Daniels Sings Swing

Richard Daniels Sings Swing had been serenading the bride & groom all day and he was chosen to sing their 1st Dance. And it was fantastic. The happy couple danced on their own for the first half, then invited the guests to join in. As soon it was over I took over the music for the rest of the night and we partied until midnight!

As already mentioned the playlist was quite extensive, but this was only a guide. So with this in mind, I took requests on the night, added some of my own, and we made shapes on the dance floor. As the South Terrace has a fantastic balcony area with shelter, warmth and of course fab views, a lot of the guests were outside for a large part of the night. So I played to those inside initially then we ramped it up when everyone else came in.  Then everyone was making the most of the dance floor.

Unfortunately as with all good things, the end came too soon, and the last dance of night came round. So picking one of the playlist as a specific tune hadn’t bee requested I played Candi Stanton – You got the Love . There was lots of chanting afterwards for 1 more, 1 more as per the usual 🙂 but the venue said OK, so the bride came over and asked for Don’t stop believing – Journey . Everyone finished the evening singing at the top of their lungs giving the new Mr & Mrs a fantastic send off.

The 1st of 2 weddings in 2017 so far here at the fabulous Rochdale Town Hall Wedding venue. I arrived and set-up in the morning on this occasion as the couple were having their wedding breakfast in the great hall along with the evening reception. So to stop any distractions we arranged for the morning set-up so I could just turn up and press play once I had arrived.

The Toastmaster organsied the 1st Dance along with the small folk group who were singing the 1st dance. I was to take over after the first dance. Their song of choice was Shut up and dance – Walk the moon but obviously it was a slower softer version and beautiful too. Made a real change and was a great way of making their 1st dance their own. Approximately half way through, the brides maids etc grabbed the parents and they joined in as well.

I took over straight after the 1st dance and soon got stuck into their playlist. Playing a bit of chart, party, eighties, nineties, dance, indie, rock and a little bit of Jamiroquai. This one guy had to wait for it as it really didn’t fit any earlier but once it came on he was over the moon!!! So for the classic remix Click the link  .

Unfortunately with everyone having a great night, me included, the time flew by, and the end of the night came round. So using songs on their playlist and a couple of requests I would them up finishing with Don’t stop me now – Queen followed by Don’t Stop Believing – Journey . This produced the desired effect of hands in the air, singing at the top of their lungs and giving the new Mr & Mrs Parker the send off the day deserved. This then resulted in the stage at Rochdale Town hall getting stormed. GOOD TIMES!!!

The Worsley Court House Wedding DJ & Lighting. As much as I try to arrange a meeting before booking sometimes it’s not always possible. And this was the case for this wedding at Worsley Court House. And even thou the couple had access to the online planner, there was only the first dance plus 2 other songs to play. Oh and one Do Not Play. Not that this worries me as I’m just as happy playing of a playlist or going with the flow and taking requests on night as we did here.

The 1st Dance was a new one for me. I know the song and the artist plus I have the album (Hand Built By Robots – it’s great) . But this was the 1st time as a first dance. So as we were running behind (it snowed – a lot) we got straight into it as soon as the photographer had taken her shots. Dream Catch Me  – Newton Faulkner was the song and as soon as we started people were clapping and cheering along. Everyone was invited to join in, and they did, ready to get the evening going and in full song.

As I had pretty much free reign I started with some chart stuff while they went for the buffet (the running times were up the swanny because of the snow) . We had a few people dancing but we didn’t really kick off until after the food. Throwing in party classics and requests on the night we catered pretty much for everyone. Some of the tunes I threw out there were everything from Superstition Stevie Wonder to Low – Flo Rida to Mr. Brightside The Killers .

As mentioned no last dance had been specifically requested so we went with the flow. What it turned out to be was a AC/DC Triple play. Back in Black as one of the other 2 songs they had asked for. This went well so we just added another couple ( Thunderstruck and Highway to Hell) which was gloriously received.

The Barn

Firstly, It will be my first wedding in a barn at a working farm. That’s right the barn is usually used for sheep. But as the wedding is in the summer months, it’s not used for it’s intended purpose. So i’ll be installing a festoon canopy across the center of the barn. Some more festoons swagged around the walls of the barn, as well as being the Wedding DJ in the evening. I am also supplying a P.A. for some background music during the day.

The Views.

Secondly, It has some of the most amazing views I’ve come across for a wedding venue. The sights over the moors and down, across and around Dovestones are awesome. These pictures I’ve taken are quick snaps from when I met up with the couple for an initial meeting to discuss what, where when etc. So I can’t wait to see what a professional photographer is gonna get!

Please Pop back…

So I just wanted to share a little about a new venue to me anyway, that is pretty awesome if you liked this kinda thing. This fits into Unusual venue and beautiful wedding venues.

Let me know what venue you got married in or know that is unusual or has views that are different than the norm.

Don’t forget to pop back in June to see how we got on, see you then 🙂

We had a little bit of everything throughout the evening, from sixties through to chart with a little rock thrown in for good measure. Basically making sure everyone had a good night.

On the playlist for this evening we had some Motown, Eighties and chart tunes. What we also had was some Urban and Rap which seemed to be greatly appreciated by the guests. Weather it was old Skool like No Diggerty or more recent Tunes Thrift Shop it all went down a treat.

And Finally

All in all another great tunes playing some usual suspects and not so common tunes. The happy couple sayed right until the end on the dance bustin’ some moves and generally having a great time. When a venue is this fabulous it’s always great to know that the event is just as fantastic, and it was.

Lisa & Jason’s wedding at MOSI (Museum of Science & Industry) Wedding venue in Manchester city centre is a little different. And this was the 1st time I had performed here. Such a unique venue, with all these engines and trains etc.  It’s not for everyone but those do want it love it! With a relatively small crowd for this Friday wedding I was hoping for a enthusiastic bunch of revelers and that’s what I got 🙂

The music that had been requested for the night was a mixture of Chart & Eighties with a heavy influence of Manchester, Indie and Pop Punk. So with that in mind the 1 st dance was The Smiths – There is a light that never goes out. Lisa & Jason started the dance, and then encouraged everyone to join in – which they did with great vigor.

Nearly the last dance

Well not strictly true if I’m being honest. The Bride and groom were set to leave around 11.30, an hour before we finished. With this in mind, and they hadn’t asked for a last song or going away track etc. So I just kept playing. Here they are still dancing at twenty past midnight to a bit of Fleetwood Mac and you can go your own way.. In the end they left a few minutes from the end, as I was playing Green Day – Good Riddance (time of your lives). Think it’s safe to say they didn’t want to go…..

And Finally…

Safe to say everyone enjoyed the evening, admittedly some left early with it being a Friday but those that stayed, enjoyed, danced and partied until the end, including Lisa & Jason, who had every intention of leaving an hour earlier. Always a good sign.

Until next time MOSI……..

Lowry Wedding June ‘15

The Compass room above the The Lowry Theatre is most certainly one of the more unique wedding venues in Manchester. With 75% glass walls allowing you some great views across Salford Quays and across the city, it certainly is a venue that stands out.

Rebecca & Michael arrived in to the room for 6.20pm. I was supposed to be there at 7pm, but I was early, so took over the music for background etc, from the start. After some food, speeches and photo’s we got down to the nitty gritty – partying! 🙂

Dance floor good times at Lowry Wedding

Due to sound restrictions that are specific to the lowry, the party didn’t start properly until a bit later around 9.45/10pm. After which I was allowed to increase the volume level by the venue.  Once I was given the go ahead the dancefloor was in constant use for the rest of night.

Due to travel restrictions that are unique to this venue, a lot of guests leave between 12-12.30 so for the last 30mins we were left with around 20 guests but we made sure it was worth them staying. Playing a special megamix of Dirty Dancing and the finale song of the night – Please forgive me by Bryan Adams.

So once again, another great and eventful evening in the Compass room at the Lowry. And I am looking forward to going back again at some time in the not too distant future.
