Leighton Hall Fabulous October Wedding
Before the Day
Back in early October 2017, I had the privilege of being Helen & Scotts wedding DJ. After sending emails back and forth initially, we then had a meeting about a month before the big day. This was to go over all details, music preferences and the general order of the day / evening. After the meeting I received this in the follow up email
It was great to meet you on Monday and we are so excited for the wedding and know you will do an fantastic job!
Makes you feel like you’re doing something right if they are saying that after a meeting!
On the day, due to horrendous weather (in Oldham) and Carnforth, Lancahsire is not local, I left a little early. So early in fact I arrived before the wedding couple! But thankfully Lucy from Leighton Hall made me feel welcome, and invited me behind the scenes, saved sitting in the van for a few hours on my own. I always believe in arriving early and waiting rather, than turning up dead on time or late and rushing, but this was a early even for me!!!
I set-up the disco & blue uplighting during the meal, and we had some background music going for when they finished, to help set the mood for the evening to come.
The First Dance
The 1st part of the evening there was caleigh band on the music room, to get everyone warmed up, then we moved the entertainment through to the entrance where I was set-up with my uplighting for the evening disco. So we got everyone in and around the dance floor for the 1st dance, which was the timeless classic Wonderful World – Louis Armstrong. This was then followed by their 2nd song of choice – Chuck Berry – Johnny B. Goode . This got everyone up jiving away.
Party time
The playlist they built was fairly varied but not extensive so I had a bit of flexibility to add my own and take requests on the night. The bulk of the music requested was Sixties, Eighties, Inide, Chart and some old skool / Nineties dance -Hence the glow sticks in the pictures. Basically we had a blast! Working my around their playlist and joining it all together we always had people dancing.
Last Dance
As in soo many cases when you spend the evening dancing away, the end comes all too quickly. And so was the case on this occasion. A double header of songs had been asked for the finale of the evening. First up was Elbow – One day like this . This was followed by Queen – Don’t stop me now to bring the evening to a close. Two great song choices that did their job. Left everyone on a high and especially Helen & Scott.
Lovely couple, great night, just a fabulous wedding. All the best guys.
Customer Review*
I cannot recommend David highly enough. Not only is he totally professional and a fantastic DJ but he is also absolutely lovely to work with. He communicated really well, guided us through his easy to use playlist, arrived early and gave us lots of advice. You can see where his experience really shows as he was able to judge what worked best for our guests ensuring everyone had a great time, and that is worth so much! Thank you David for all your help and making our wedding disco absolutely perfect! Helen x
Finally
I have included a couple of pictures of Leighton Hall itself as it’s such a unique wedding venue, why not!
