Stockport Town Hall – Committee Suite
Part 1 of 2 weddings I did over the weekend. One with the 100 songs on the playlist the other with 12. The idea being that how ever much or little music guidance & information you give give me I’m able to give you the nights entertainment you want.
The Playlist
So Friday night I was over at fabulous Stockport Town Hall. It was for a smaller wedding crowd of around 80 so we were in the Committee Suite. Parquet flooring, wood panels and chandeliers – grand feel for a smaller wedding party. As already mentioned I had been supplied a playlist of 100 songs plus 1st dance. This list is more of an eclectic mix of indie, chillout dance, rock and Manchester tunes.
The First Dance
So for back ground early door I picked a few more of the chillout options on the playlist, which went down very well, with more than a couple singing along or nodding their heads. We then kicked of the evening with the 1st dance – which was Howard Hughes By Ride. We then had the guests join around half way followed by The Charlatans – Only One I know to kick off the party!
Party Time
Now as much as the guests where enjoying the music, they also wanted some more charty stuff which wasn’t really accounted for on the playlist. So after a brief discussion with happy couple we then had a couple of sessions of more modern stuff. And this is where being flexible can really help the evening. Sometimes YOUR music isn’t really party music or it doesn’t appeal to everyone, and being that bit flexible helps to let everyone have some dance floor time. When we got to second set thou everyone was loving it. We then followed that with the old skool dance anthems to finish the night off.
Last Dance
Now as a specific last dance song wasn’t supplied I had to pick one so as I hadn’t played it during the evening we finished the night off with One Day Like This – Elbow . I think it was safe to say it was good choice! 🙂
So finally…
We had a big request list, some flexibility regarding the music and a couple of requests on the night, and we had a great night. Feel free to download the entire playlist Here.
