Walton Hall Wedding After Party
Emma & Mark were having their after party. They had got married previously in secret in Ibiza, and they wanted to have a party to remember with their friends and family so they came to me. Which was awesome as soon as I was speaking to them I thought this is gonna be a good one. We started communications by email. They then came to an open day at Walton Hall I was attending. We then met at my office about 3/4wks prior to the party, as they wanted to talk in more depth about the music & lighting. And then – Party day.
Customer Testimony
Hi Dave, just wanted to say a huge thank you for being the best DJ at our wedding a few weeks ago at Walton Hall, Warrington. The music was spot on, 100% true professional from the beginning and would definitely hire you for another party!!
The Music
The playlist they built up on line was just under 200 songs, which is a big one!!! But they were happy for to add my own, take requests etc. Use the list as a guide as much as anything else, rather than a must play. With a selection of Motown, Sixties, Disco, eighties, Indie and Chart I knew we ‘d be fine. But people don’t get married in Ibiza and not have Dance music on it. And yes there was a major section devoted to dance music. House, Old Skool, Deep house, we had Tuuunz on here.
First Dance
For the first dance I had to do a live mix from This Girl – Cookin’ on 3 Burners into This Girl – Kungs Vs Cookin’ on 3 Burners . This was also a 1st for me – doing a live mix for a first dance. Then to really add some funk, we had a live saxophonist (Sophia Sax) join in on the Kungs version as I did the mix, so we had a added impact. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous, but we brought the house down! What an awesome way to start the evening.
Party Time
The 1st hour was all House and dance music as Sophia Sax Worked her magic with the sax, whilst I filled in and the kept the vibe going in-between here mini breaks. Then the food came out so I played a few chilled tracks for half an hour or so then we hit the oldies. From some Rock ‘n’ Rock and Motown to disco and into some Eighties and indie we always had people dancing their arses off! Then with an hour to go we returned tot the dance stuff and basically just stayed in the Old Skool as it was going down so well!!!!!
Last Dance
Well the last dance was 2 songs that turned into 3. The couple in question had asked for All you need is love – The Beatles to be followed by Don’t Worry Be Happy – Bobby McFerrin . Which I did and eveyone was up singing and loving it.And when it was done, I got the usual 1 more 1 more chant, so with authorisation from the venue I was allowed to play 1 more. So I dropped this and they went wild. Know How – Young M.C. . Unfortunately I had to stop after this , even thou they still wanted more….
Finally
What a great night was had by literally everyone. Sofia loved it, I loved it, the guests loved it, and most importantly the Bridge & groom loved it. I think I could have played until sunrise and still had them going. Defiantly a party I didn’t want to end. I wish them all the best for their future happiness.
